The Macallan have created a unique decanter to celebrate the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary René Lalique’s birth. The decanter contains an extremely rare sixty four year old Macallan single malt whisky from their cellars. The decanter made by Lalique is based upon the design of a ship’s decanter of the 1820’s the same decade in which The Macallan was founded. Their is a hand engraved panorama of The Macallan estate by the river Spey, in north east Scotland on the decanter. The decanter is a one off and will be auctioned off by Sotheby’s on November 15, 2010 in New York with all proceeds going to charity: water.
