IWC have released a watch to commemorate the expedition of Plastiki, a catamaran made of recycled plastic bottles which sailed from San Francisco to Sydney. IWC were the principal sponsor of the expedition which ended in July 2010 after more than four months at sea. IWC created the limited edition Ingenieur Mission Earth Edition Plastiki watch to commemorate the expedition. The watch has a stainless steel case with a blue rubber strap. The back of the case has a map of the journey and an inscription, only one thousand of the watches will be available.
