Mercedes have released a roadster version of the SLR McLaren three years after the introduction of the original SLR Coupè. The roadster features the same 5.5 liter supercharged V8 engine as the Coupè, although it is not the 650 hp version in the SLR 722 edition it has a top speed of 333 kilometers per hour. The SLR Roadster utilizes a carbon fiber roof which once manually unlatched retracts within ten seconds. The SLR’s signature scissor door’s remain due to a strengthened A pillar which support the doors once opened. The SLR Roadster will be available from September onwards and a total of one thousand will be made.
