The Escalade’s identity as automotive currency in the hop-hop and overpaid-athlete culture does not seem to be diminished by its working class siblings, the GMC Yukon and the Chevy Tahoe. That doesn’t mean Cadillac wants to totally alienate the Escalade from the Tahoe and Yukon, especially when there’s hot technology to be shared like GM’s new two-mode hybrid system. GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner recently confirmed that Cadillac would be getting an Escalade Hybrid for the 2008 model year. Still no word on what the vehicle’s actual mileage numbers will be, except for the “25-percent gain in fuel economy†chorus that’s constantly being sung. Some have gone so far as to guesstimate the Escalade Hybrid would achieve close to 30-mpg highway. We think that’s a bit optimistic, but GM hasn’t stepped up to tell anyone otherwise.
